Mary Patricia "Patsy" Lehman passed away peacefully on the 17 of Nov. 2016, at her home in Denver, Colo., after a valiant battle with Multiple System Atrophy – a Parkinson related disease. Patsy grew up in Little Rock, Ark., one of four children of Robbie and Teddy Mayer. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, where she was a Theta sister, she pursued a teaching career in Houston, Texas. Her students; variously in grades two through six, loved "Miss Mayer". Many of them were from poverty and difficult family situations, and Patsy always had time to listen to their stories, and help when she could. Patsy's family was unquestionably her first priority, but she also loved traveling. She enjoyed numerous trips to Europe, and travelled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, where she and her family lived (in Malaysia) for four years. Patsy became an avid golfer, and played on many courses around the world. She was a member at Braeburn Country Club in Houston, Texas. Patsy is survived by Dave Lehman, her husband of 38 years; their daughter Lisa, sisters; Sharon Fly and husband Jerry of Greensboro, Ga.; Kathy Hayes and husband Hoyt of Jackson, Tenn.; brother Mike and his wife Fran of Houston, Texas; cousin Jill Glanville and her family of Houston, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Although they travelled extensively and lived in several places over the years, Patsy and her family always considered themselves Houstonians. They are members at Saint Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston. In recent years the Lehman's maintained a secondary residence in Denver, Colo., and attended Saint John's Cathedral there. In her later years Patsy and her little cocker spaniel "Hannah" were inseparable. Patsy had an easy way of engaging with people of all walks of life and backgrounds and was especially greatly loved by those who worked for her. She had an endearing combination of feistiness and graciousness which gave her a unique and unforgettable personality. We all dearly loved her and miss her.
