Sylvia Hollingsworth Anthony, 83, of Hot Springs, died at home on Nov. 23, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Hampton, Ark., to Dr. Gervas Hollingsworth and India Witherington Hollingsworth, and grew up in Dyess, Ark. She attended school in Dyess, then at Virginia Intermont College and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She dedicated her life to her family, raising five children with her late husband of 61 years, John Franklin Anthony. She was an enthusiastic fan of many sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, and was an avid bridge player. She and John (Johnny) also enjoyed attending Oaklawn Park and owned many thoroughbred race horses over the years. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband John Franklin Anthony, her daughter India Anthony Ramer, and her brother Jack Hollingsworth. Survivors include her son John G Anthony of Hot Springs, daughters Mary Anthony of Tulsa, Okla., Sally Anthony Cross (Ralph Cross) of Hot Springs, and Alice Anthony (Kelly Dodson) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Jane Anthony Olsen (Andy) of Washington, N.C., Sarah Young of Little Rock, Ark., Caroline Anthony of Washington, N.C., Casey Cross Bradfield (Jeremy) of Celina, Texas, Jacob Myrick (Jo) of Little Rock, Ark., Alan Wilson of Hot Springs, Ark., Kinley Cross of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ashley Myrick of Clinton, Ark., including numerous great-grandchildren and many dear friends and extended family. Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Arkansas Hospice, and to her wonderful caregivers Calva Smith, Kyla Cox and Robbie Terrill. Also, relief caregivers Margaret Mueller, Dorothy Beryahi, and Malena Brown. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday with services to follow at 11 a.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Bearden, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice, Guardian Angels Cat Rescue or Paws and Claws Animal Rescue in Hot Springs. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
