Woody N. Miley

DR. WOODY N. MILEY, age 90, of North Little Rock, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 of his brothers and sister; his first wife, Bessie Miley; and stepdaughter, Robin Gollotte. Dr. Miley received his bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from LSU. Dr. Miley worked 36 years with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Science department as the Extension Soils Specialist and Agronomy section leader. He made countless contributions to the Arkansas Agricultural Industry, through soil fertility and plant nutrition education. He was also honored by having a scholarship created in his name by the University of Arkansas Agronomy Department. In 1990, the University of Arkansas awarded Dr. Miley the title of Adjunct Professor of Agronomy, recognizing his 36 years of service, where his contributions are too many to list. Dr. Miley was a proud member of Park Hill Baptist Church, where he served for over 30 years as an adult Sunday School Director and deacon. He was also named "Father of the Year" in 2007 by the Arkansas Baptist News Magazine. He was a World War II veteran. Dr. Miley loved attending church activities, telling corny jokes, watching Westerns, and attending Razorback football games. He was always pleasant, friendly and encouraging to others. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; his daughter, Phyllis Smiley (Robert); his son Roger Miley (Sherri); and his stepdaughter, Lisa Myrick (Bill); and two brothers Gene (Dolly) and Wayne (Polly). Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 E "C" Ave, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116. Visitation will be 9 a.m., one hour prior. Burial will be at Kilbourne Cemetery in West Carroll Parish, La. at 4 p.m. The family would like to thank the CNAS, nurses and staff of Sherwood Nursing and Rehab for the excellent and loving care given to Dr. Miley.
