Elmer L. Nietfeld

Elmer L. Nietfeld was born in Grand Island, Neb. on Jan.30, 1925 to Alfred and Frieda Nietfeld. Elmer served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a BAR Gunner. Elmer married Betty Gustafson in 1949 in Grand Island, Neb. They moved to Chicago, Ill. where Elmer attended DeForrest Training Institute. He earned his degree in Avionics in 1952. Elmer worked for Beech Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, Kan. for 35 years. He retired from Beech as an Assistant Marketing Manager, specializing in heavy twin and turbine aircraft. Shortly after retirement, Elmer and Betty made their home in Bella Vista, Ark. He and Betty were long time, active members of the Bella Vista Community Church. Elmer loved to help others and devoted much of his time volunteering his knowledge and service to his church. Elmer found great comfort in reading his bible every day. Elmer and Betty had recently moved to Okla. Elmer passed away at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. on Sept. 16, 2016 after a short illness. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Frieda Niefled; his sister, Lenore Cornelius and Alfreda Myers; his brother, Ruben Nietfeld, his son, Robert Nietfeld. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Nietfeld; his eldest son, Dan Nietfeld; his grandchildren, Aaron and Mikal; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Johnson. Elmer was a wonderful father, husband, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
