Eugene Gustavous Eberle Jr., passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 after a short illness, with his son, Gene, III, by his side. Gene was born to Helen Rule Eberle and Eugene G. Eberle, Sr. in Little Rock on May 3, 1929. He attended Forest Park Elementary, Pulaski Heights Jr. High and graduated from Little Rock High School; then on to Vanderbilt University and the University of Arkansas. He served in the Army reserve for seven years. Gene was an Eagle Scout, and played football and ran track for the Little Rock Tigers. He was scruffy and tenacious. Gene's early career began with insurance sales, and later continued with real estate sales. Gene opened State Realty in the 60s and later founded Eberle Realty, where he would advertise Wise Investments and "I peddle dirt and anything on it!" Gene was a multi-million dollar producer; a member of the Little Rock Realtors Association, as well as the National Association of Realtors. He was active in the Downtown Rotary Club, the Little Rock Police Citizen's Academy, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and sang in the choir and served as an usher in the First United Methodist Church. Gene was proceeded in death by his parents, his younger, brother, Walter Gilbert Eberle, former wife, Charlotte Simmen Eberle Floyd and his son, William (Bill) A. Eberle. His survivors include his son, Gene Eberle III of Little Rock; daughter, Barbee James of Boulder, Colo.; granddaughters Elizabeth Eberle of Little Rock and Anna Eberle of Boise, Idaho, and grandsons, JT James and Ryan James of Los Angeles, Caif.; two cousins from his generation, Herb Rule and Jim Rule of Little Rock, and a host of family and friends. Visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Little Rock. A private burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Arkansas or First United Methodist Church.
