Dorsie Mae Rose Moore was born March 1, 1922, in Carlisle to James A. and Edna McLaughlin Rose. She died Wednesday, October 4, 2016 in Shreveport, La. Dorsie was a homemaker and was an active member of her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Moore; her parents; and her brothers, Jim Rose and Charlie Johnson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hal and Christy Moore; and her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Scott Harkey; her grandchildren, E.D. and Chris Stewart, Jack Harkey, LeAnn and Philip Bussey, and Leah Moore; sister-in-law, Lena Rose of Malvern; nephew, Mitch Rose and his wife Janice from Pine Bluff and one great-nephew, James Rose, currently at the University of Arkansas. Besides her brother's family, Dorsie embraced her husband's large family in Arkansas. Those preceding her in death were: Cecil and Marie Moore, Elizabeth and R.L. Hester, Christine and Leland Thomason, Bob and Bernice Moore, and twins Annie and Bessie Hester. Bessie's husband, George Campbell is the only remaining in that generation. One niece and one nephew preceded her: Patty Hester Rollins, and Robert Dean Hester. Still remaining with us are her precious nieces: Bobbie Hester Standridge, Barbara Moore Riddell, Regina Moore Kersey, Diana Thomason Findley, Kathy Thomason Franks, Mary Lou Moore Brooks, Linda Moore Newcomb and dozens of great-nieces and nephews. Dorsie left behind a surprisingly large group of young people both from her involvement with youth at church and her son's business. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Carlisle Cemetery, Carlisle, Ark. under the direction of Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.
