Patrick Ray Dallas

Pat Dallas, journalist and blogger, died in Fayetteville on Oct. 4, 2016, at the age of 61. Born in Little Rock on June 9, 1955, he grew up mainly in Newport, where he was an Eagle Scout during his high school years. After studies at the University of Florida and the University of Arkansas, he was employed by Southwestern Bell at Fayetteville, and he also served there as a union representative for the Communications Workers of America. Later he obtained a degree in journalism at the University of Arkansas and worked as an editor at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Muskogee Phoenix. From 2005 to 2009 he achieved a degree of anonymous fame as publisher of the weblog Spook of the Ozarks on politics, society and vintage music. After a serious illness, he continued his blogging activities via his Facebook page, which also had a considerable following. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Becky and Ray Dallas. He is survived by his brother Michael in Amsterdam. The cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered in his beloved Northwest Arkansas in an informal send-off to be announced.
