M. Ann Hunt

M. Ann Hunt, MD, age 89, of Crockett's Bluff, Ark., went to be with our Lord on Oct. 13, 2016. Dr. Hunt is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Hunt of Tucker, Ga.; her cousin, Alexandra McCoy of Stuttgart, Ark.; her niece and her husband, Scott and Marianne Kellogg of Tucker, Ga.; her nephew, Jeffrey Hunt of Loganville, Ga.; her great-nephew, Avery Bowman Sr. of Dawsonville, Ga., and her great-niece and her husband Michael and Jennifer Case of Loganville, Ga., as well as five great-great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-great-niece. She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Vos Hunt, father William Hunt and her brother John Alan Hunt all of Crockett's Bluff, Ark. Dr. Hunt was born on Nov. 28, 1926 in Stuttgart, Ark. She attended Steven's College in Columbia, Mo., Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., followed by an Internship at the University of Iowa, Residency at Bellevue Hospital in NY and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship which afforded her the opportunity to work at Boston General Hospital in Cancer Research. Dr. Hunt was involved in the foundation of the Arkansas Children's Hospital and taught for two years at the University of Arkansas Hospital. Dr. Hunt was in practice in Santa Fe, N.M., for many years followed by serving as director of Handicapped Children's Services for the State of Utah. She was known to those closest to her for having her hands in the dirt or her nose in a book. She was fondly referred to as the "Daylily Lady". A teacher at heart with a selfless, kind and generous spirit she was loved by many and will be remembered by all who knew her. Dr. Hunt believed that a garden was a thing of living beauty, not for cutting. The family asks that rather than flowers or live plants that a donation be made in her name to either the Arkansas Food Bank or Doctors Without Borders.
