Robert "Bob" King passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2016 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, La. at the age of 85. He was born on July 6, 1931 in Star City, Ark. Bob attended Arkansas State College in Batesville, Ark. on a football scholarship. He loved people and pursued a career in sales. A natural born salesman who never met a stranger; he retired from the Gillette Company where he was the regional manager for five states, and received numerous honors and awards. Bob loved life and was a vibrant and loving person. He liked to travel, having visited many places in the United States and all over the world. He spent his life as a physical fitness advocate. At 80 years old, he was still participating in the Senior Olympics, having won numerous awards in Arkansas, Colorado and national competitions. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Arlene Robertson and father Orie Danver King. He is survived by his wife, Gerri M. King; two sons, Steve King and his wife Diane of Broomfield, Colo., David King and his wife Jean of Little Rock, Ark.; and one granddaughter Noel of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Joyce and husband Lloyd of Bryan, Texas, and Betty Davis of Star City, Ark.; three stepsons, Wayne Marionneaux and wife Darra of Shreveport, La., Barry Marionneaux and wife Wendy of Baton Rouge, La., and Scott Marionneaux of West Monroe, La. Survivors also include six cousins and five nephews. Bob resided in Little Rock, Ark and Colorado Springs, Colo., but moved to Baton Rouge in Jan., 2013.
