Cathryn L. Pennington-Dozier, 88, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Legacy Heights Nursing Home in Russellville. The daughter of Oscar and Autra (Phillips) Leavell, she was born February 6th, 1928 in Ross Community near Dover. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Russellville. She worked for the United States Army as Directorate For Resource Management and received the Sustained Superior Performance Award. This award had only been granted to three individuals up to that time. Her accomplishments included earning the title of Miss Russellville of 1946 and successfully obtaining funds for the Russellville Senior Adult Center. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and American Business Women's Association and received the Port O'Cotton ABWA Women of the Year Award. Cathryn enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, collecting handkerchiefs and butterflies and entertaining guests. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Pennington; second husband, John Dozier; her parents, Oscar and Autra Leavell; brothers, Billy, Bobby and Idus Leavell; niece, Marsha Leavell; nephew, Mark Leavell. Survivors include brother, Lonnie Leavell of Beebe; sisters, Cleta Castor and husband Bill of Finleyville, Pa., Phyllis Hubbard and husband Ron of London, Deborah Smith and husband David of London; sister-in-law, Linda Leavell of Russellville and Martha Leavell of Lebanon, Tenn.; 18 nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Rex Chambers and wife Betty of Russellville and John Chambers; special nieces, Sharon and Ruth; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville. Rev. Danny Green and Jim Bob Humphrey will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home.
