Lieutenant Colonel Richard "Rick" D. Denniston, USAF, Retired, 64, of Pelsor, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Robert J. and Phyllis A. (Price) Denniston, he was born August 26, 1952 in Clarksville. He married Debra Ann Young on July 21, 1973 at Mountainburg, Ark. He was the Superintendent with Deer / Mt. Judea Public Schools for 23 years and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard for 38 years. He enjoyed Caring for his Family, Learning, Bringing Success to Public School Systems, Fishing and Living as a Productive Citizen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three infant grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Debra Denniston; nine children, Olivia Burden, Richard J. Denniston, Erica M. Denniston, Joshua B. Denniston, Elijah T. Denniston, Zachariah A. Denniston, Josiah R. Denniston, Micah D. Denniston and Noah M. Denniston, 20 grandchildren; three siblings, Terry Denniston, Patty Shock and Cindy McKuin; and several extended family. The family will hold a memorial service at their home. There will be a Scholarship Fund set up in his name for the students of Deer/Mount Judea Public Schools to further their college education.
