On October 8, 2016, LARRY E. WARD of Little Rock, Ark. was called to heaven by our Lord after a long fight with Multiple Myeloma cancer (Agent Orange).
He was born in Omaha, Neb., in 1948 to Frank & LeVaune Ward. Larry was a great man. He would always put others before himself. He worked with people with disabilities, training them to succeed in the world. Many of his years were spent working for DHS, helping displaced workers find new careers. In his final years working for the State of Arkansas, he worked for ADEQ helping to keep the environment safe from hazards that would affect the people of this State. After attending Little Rock Catholic High, Larry honorably served as a Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, leading rescue operations for POW's. He received a Bronze Star for his service. He graduated from UALR with a Master's Degree in Business.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Frank Ward. He is survived by his mother, LeVaune Ward and sister, Barbara Ward Brown, both of Austin, Texas; daughter, Shelli Crook, son-in-law, Charles Crook, and grandson, Beckket Crook, all of Fla.; nephew, Michael Spickes and his wife, Stacy Spickes, of Austin. Larry will be buried at the Central Texas Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, where his parents' veterans' plots are located. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UAMS Multiple Myeloma Center in Larry's honor. Special thanks to the nurses on the seventh Floor at UAMS, who became a family to Larry in the final months he spent with you. You will ALL hold a special place in our hearts for taking such good care of him. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Larry's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
