Gertrude Marie Thompson

Gertrude Marie Thompson, 97, of Russellville passed away Oct. 27, 2016. She was born in Prescott, Ark., on Dec. 2, 1918 to J.B. and Belle Hylton. Gertrude graduated from Chidister High School near Camden. She loved to sew and made every shirt her sons wore until they graduated from high school. Gertrude and her late husband, Frank Thompson, loved to square dance. They danced all over the United States and she was a member of the 60 Swingers Square Dance Club in Bryant, Ark., for many years. They also sponsored a Navajo Square dance group, each year they would visit this group, teaching them to square dance and learning the Navajo tribe dances. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son; Billy Frank Thompson. She is survived by one son; Bobby Thompson, one grandson; Randall Paul Thompson (Yvette) and two great grandchildren; Steven and Megan Thompson.
