Phyllis Verdene Treat

Phyllis Verdene (Dene) Treat, 89, passed away at Seven Springs Nursing Home in Heber Springs, Ark., on Oct. 27, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dene was born to the late Loren and Ethel Ramsey Reece on April 16, 1927. She was the Director of the Senior Center in Big Flat, Arkansas, for many years. She was an excellent cook and set a beautiful table with flowers from her garden. She also loved reading, crocheting, and quilting, as well as spending time with her family. Dene was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands (James Norwood Carmichael, Eldon Cureton, and Raymond Treat), one son Rodney Carmichael, and three sisters Veda Weatherford, Bonnie Marsh, and Sonja Lois Thacker. She is survived by two brothers, Ken Reece of Benton, and Lecil Reece of Raleigh, North Carolina, one son Rickey Carmichael of Little Rock, Rodney's wife Diane Hensley of Heber Springs; five grandchildren Christy Feemster of Heber Springs, Cyndy Blasingame of Roanoke, Texas, Farron Silverman of Houston, Texas, McKenzie Richards of Cabot, and Chase Carmichael of Little Rock; and four great grandchildren Katie, Dillon, Jenna Grace, and Mason.
