On Wednesday, August 24, 2016 the Lord called Alice Odelia Chapman home to glory. She was born April 13, 1927 to the late Andrew and Katie Owens. She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. in Princeton, Ark. Odelia worked at the Little Rock University Medical Center and the Children's Colony. She was a Foster Grandparent worker in the Arkadelphia School district and worked last for Area Agency on Aging. Survivors include: nine sons; Tyra Johnson, Eric Johnson, Elijah Johnson and Lawrence (Sheila) Johnson all of Little Rock, Ark., Sylvester Johnson, Christopher Hunter and Charles Chapman all of Arkadelphia, Ark., Boyce Blake (Dorothy) Hunter, and Arthur Hunter both of Detroit, Michigan; four daughters; Dorothy Hill and Ernestine Johnson both of Little Rock, Ark., Shelia (Kevin) Hampton of Inkster, Michigan, Janece Bankhead of Arkadelphia, Ark.; one brother, Ben (Iola) Owens of Princeton, Arkansas and one sister, Mary Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; 31 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2016 at Mitchell Funeral Home in Arkadelphia from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Family hour will be at Second Baptist Church in Little Rock from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Princeton, Ark. at 12 noon. The body will lie in state 1 hour prior to funeral time. Burial will be at Henderson Cemetery.
