Amy Seamans Walker, "Pat" , 97, a resident of Springdale, died Sept. 2, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard J Walker. She is survived by two children, Johnny Mike Walker of Fayetteville and Patricia Walker of Dallas, Texas; seven grand-children, Clay Greene and wife Amy, Christie Greene Osborne and husband Aaron, Carrie Greene Eggart and husband Miles, Matt Blazer and wife Rachel, Alex Blazer and wife Jessie, Austin Walker and Clancy Walker; and 15 great-grandchildren, John Greene, Walker Eggart, Peyton Osborne, Josie Greene, Andrew Osborne, Isabelle Eggart, Cameron Greene, Caroline Blazer, Jack Eggart, Liam Osborne, Julia Blazer, Abbey Osborne, Hadley Blazer, Brigette Blazer and Braxton Walker. Born May 9, 1919 in Boise, Idaho the daughter of Lula Seamans Gillespie and stepfather Harold Gillespie. She was a member of the Spring Creek Church of Springdale (formerly First Christian Church of Springdale) where she taught Sunday school. On May 3, 1942, Pat married the love of her life, Willard Walker. They met the previous year while working at the SH Kress department store in Coffeyville, Kan. Pat believed her life truly began the day she married and became Mrs. Willard Walker. Over the next decade, Pat attended different accounting classes and assisted with much of her husband's businesses. During this time, they lived in many Oklahoma and Arkansas cities including Pryor, Stillwater, Kingfisher,Tulsa, Fayetteville, Fort Smith and eventually landed in Springdale to raise their family. Pat, along with her late husband Willard, were very generous people and established the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation. Since that time, their generosity has touched the lives of thousands of Arkansans. The Walker Foundation has contributed generously to medical centers, colleges and universities , public schools, libraries, park and recreation facilities, performing arts centers and museums, churches and religious institutions and social service organizations. Pat's commitment to the people of Arkansas has been unwavering and her dedication to make the region a better place to live is unparalleled. She was a lifetime board member of both the WInthrop P Rockefeller Cancer Institute and the Walker Charitable Foundation. Pat served on numerous steering committees & capital campaigns and in 2005 was the honorary chairperson for the Susan G. Komen Ozark Race for the Cure. Many awards have been bestowed upon Pat in recognition of her philanthropy, including most recently being inducted into the 2016 Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame. Other awards include the 2015 Helen R Walton Distinguished Achievement Award from the Walton Arts Center, the 2013 Burlsworth Foundation legend recipient, 2002 American Heart Association Tiffany award, the distinguished service award from the Razorback Foundation and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Distinguished Service Award. Pat and Willard were inducted into the Towers of Old Main in 2001, University of Arkansas Chancellor's Society and UAMS Chancellor's Society. Pat has left her mark on many institutions across the state, region and abroad. Her legacy will live on for generations to come. Pat never met a stranger and her unselfish and humanitarian nature came across in her smile to all she came in contact with. Her family and friends have been deeply enriched with her humble and amazing leadership. She was the most loving, graceful and selfless woman. In fact, she was an angel on earth, that will never be forgotten. Memorial services will be Thursday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m at the Springdale High School performing arts center with Dr. Rick Grace officiating. A church service will be held on Friday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m at Spring Creek Fellowship in Springdale, followed by a private burial. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.
