James Hartsell Russell, 81, of Gurdon, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15. Jim grew up in Benton before serving in the Korean War in the US Marine Corps. He worked for many years in the food sales industry, but he was better known around Gurdon as the Fish Man. In his later years, he volunteered delivering meals for the Gurdon Senior Adult Center. Jim was a wonderful husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a dear friend to so many. He enjoyed golfing, playing beanie bags, and drinking coffee with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kirby, and his sister Peggy Lou. He is survived by his wife, Julia, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016 between the hours of 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon. Services will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon, 101 South Third Street, Gurdon, Arkansas.
