Clyta Verne Agee McAtee Gentry born Aug. 12, 1920 and went to heaven on Sept. 9 2016. Survivors are Marilyn McAtee McVeigh, Germantown, Tenn. 38139, grandsons Robert and Ross (Jessica), great-grandchildren Aurora Grace and Hugh Richard. She was born in Hope to Clyta (Daniel) and William Peace Agee Jr. and graduated from Arkansas High in Texarkana in 1938. She graduated from Texarkana Junior College and Texas Women's University with her Bachelor in Library Science in 1943. She married Rev. Delbert Chappell McAtee on November 18, 1945 and served with him at Second Baptist, Pine Bluff 1947-51; Immanuel Baptist, Ft. Smith 1951-52; 3 churches in Ala., First Baptist, Smackover 1963-71; Second Baptist and First Baptist, Forrest City 1976-96. Clyta started or enhanced church libraries and was a school librarian from 1966 until 1985. She received her Master's in Library Science from Delta State University. She taught Pre-school Leadership during Training Union weeks at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly. She served as Corresponding Secretary for the Southern Baptist Ministers' Wives' Conference, Second Vice-President for Arkansas Baptist Ministers' Wives' Conference, on the Arkansas Baptist Woman's Missionary Union Executive Board, and on the Historical Commission of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. After Bro. Mac went to heaven in 1995, she moved to Kirby Pines Retirement Community in Memphis, Tenn., in 1996. There she met and married William Roland Gentry Jr., in 1999, who went to heaven in 2006. Since then, she has been in Kirby Pines Manor. She recently joined the Daughters of the American Revolution, Watauga Chapter.
