Clifford Leon Hill

Clifford Leon Hill, age 90, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. He was born April 7, 1926 in Hanna, Okla., a son of the late Elmer Franklin Hill and the late Essie Cotton Hill. Leon was a 1st Cavalry Division veteran in WWII's Pacific Theater and was with General MacArthur when he raised the flag at Iwo Jima. He was a retired pastor serving the Lord for 43 years and member of Morrilton First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Vivian Marie Little Hill; daughter, Sharon Kaye Collins and husband Floy of Henderson, Texas; daughter-in-law, Janis Hill of Morrilton; sister, Wanda Jean Keller of Little Rock; five grandchildren: Tammie Bell of Texas, Sarah Monger of Colo., Amber Hoyt of Morrilton, Luke Hill of Rogers, and Maegen Rees of Morrilton; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Carl Hill; grandson: Cole Hill; and granddaughter: Leslie Housley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Geno Johnston and Bro. Mickey Glover officiating. Music will be by Bro. Johnny McCoy. Burial will be at Kilgore Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
