Doris M Smith

Doris M. Smith, 82, of Jacksonville, passed away on September 18, 2016 with her family close by. She was born on March 16, 1934 to Eli H and Georgia Ada Lea in England, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald G. Smith and siblings Tilghman Lea, Walter Lea, Joyce Keating, Eli Hubert Lea, Robert Lea, and her twin brother Orris Lea. She is survived by her children, Mike Smith (Laura) of Rogers, Glen Smith of Glendale, Arizona, John Smith (Angela) of Jacksonville and Shirley Smith of Garland, Texas; two siblings, Georgia McNeil of Des Arc and Garland Lea of Mabelvale; seven gandchildren and seven great-hrandchildren. Doris retired from the Jacksonville Police Department in 1997 after 21 years of service. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22 from 6-8 pm at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home officiated by Jacksonville Police Chaplain Bob Fielding. Pallbearers will be the Jacksonville Police Department. A special thanks to Jenna and Baptist Hospital Hospice, her dear friend Sherry Ledbetter and to the friends and family who brought food or stopped by the house with kind words.
