MOLLIE BETH IRVIN, 78, of Little Rock passed away on Sept. 20, 2016. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., to Hubert and Pauline (Cheatwood) Dicus. At an early age, Mollie gave her heart and love to God and to His son, Jesus. As she matured, she had a love for her husband, family, friends and neighbors. The extent of her service is known only by God. She sang in church choirs, served in Sunday school, dragged her kids and grandkids to vacation Bible schools. Her mission field was beyond the church. She was President of the Cloverhill/Pennbrook Neighborhood Association for many years where she organized crime watches, police night outs and 4th of July celebrations. Mollie launched a 10 year campaign for the erection of a stoplight at Barrow Road and Cloverhill Road. The city finally widened Barrow Road and hung the stoplight. This effort won recognition for Cloverhill/Pennbrook as the 2004 NUSA Neighborhood of the Year. Mollie's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She taught them, fed them, scrubbed them, dressed them, disciplined them, but mostly loved them and inspired them. They were "Mollie's Garden." Mollie is survived by her husband of 60 years, George Irvin; two daughters, Alison Small and husband, Marlowe, of Little Rock, Ark.; Carrie Moore and husband, David, of Greenwood, Ark.; one son, John Dawson Irvin MD. and wife, Missy, of Mountain View, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, Rachel Small, Patrick Small, Andrew Moore, Thomas Moore, John Hennelly Irvin, Allyn Irvin, Josie Mae Irvin and Ike Irvin. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Irvin, her parents, Hubert and Pauline Dicus, and her brother, Thomas Anderson Dicus. A family graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 26 at Roselawn Memorial Park. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., followed by visitation, at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Central Arkansas, P.O. Box 1897, Little Rock, Ark. 72203. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200. Mollie's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
