Claudell Woods

Claudell Woods was born June 13, 1957 to the late Claude and Mattie Woods. He is a graduate of the former McNeil High School and attended the county's hometown university, Southern Arkansas University, majoring in Mathematics and Political Science. Mr. Woods graduated from the University Of Arkansas School Of Law in Fayetteville, Ark. in 1982 and began the practicing of law at the East Arkansas Legal Services in West Memphis, Ark. He later transitioned to the Arkansas National Guard as a judge advocate in the legal division (JAG). He retired from the National Guard after 26 years with the rank of Colonel. He went on to be the Chair of the Political Science, Geography and History Department at his alma mater, Southern Arkansas University, while working at his private practice part-time. Claudell married the former Paula Washington, of West Memphis, Arkansas, on June 9, 1984. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Claudell is survived by his wife of thirty-two (32) years, Paula, his two sons, C. Mason (Chassity) of Little Rock, Arkansas and Cameron, of Carbondale, Illinois; his grandchildren, Charidey and Caydence, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Norman (Jean) Woods, of Pomona, California; three sisters, Ida Mae (Lee) Meadows, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Ethel Jackson, of McNeil, Arkansas, and Claudine (Eddie) Johnson, of Stephens, Arkansas. Public visitation from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and family hour 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at Marks Funeral Home. Funeral Service 12 noon Saturday at St. Matthew Baptist Church in McNeil, Arkansas. Services entrusted to Marks funeral home in Magnolia, Arkansas.
