James Harold Helms, Jr., retired, was welcomed into heaven April 4, 2017. He was born December 20, 1944, to James Harold Helms, Sr. and Florence (Weise) Helms. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Helms Harris (Gerald); and brother-in-law, Tom Stevens. He is survived by one sister, June Helms Stevens; his wife, LaDonna Howell Helms; daughter, Kim Helms McGuire (Mark); son, Mike Helms (Amber); grandchildren, Kaleb McGuire (Chelsea), Marvin Beaufort, Mikayla McGuire, Carlie Helms, Noah Basham, and Olivia Basham. Jim graduated from Malvern High School and Arkansas Tech University. He enjoyed most in life helping others. Jim was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was an ordained deacon and was involved in missions with his church. Jim had an enthusiastic love for Jesus, family, and friends. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday with services immediately following at 10 a.m. at Hot Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Manley Beasley and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Russellville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hot Springs Baptist Church in Support of the Peru Mission Trip.
