Betty Jane Izard Smith, long-time resident of North Little Rock and lately of Maumelle, formerly of Houston, Ark. was delivered safely into her Savior's arms early Saturday morning, April 8, 2017 . She was 92. She had contracted smallpox from her mother before she was born on March 5, 1925, and doctors gave no hope for her survival. God had different plans. She was a faithful Christian, wife, mother, prayer warrior and friend, loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was an avid reader and student of the Bible and taught Sunday school throughout her adult life until her health failed. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Madison Izard, Jr.; her sister Mary Ann Honeycutt, and husband, Onis Smith. She is survived by her children, Betty (Frank) Walker of North Little Rock, Judy (Joe) Jarrett of Texarkana, Robin (Tom) Welch of Minneapolis, and Bill (Nancy) Izard of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13th at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock.
