Mildred Irene Perkins

Mildred Irene Hardister Perkins, 96, of Conway passed away April 19, 2017. She was born on June 30, 1920, to the late Wilburn Asbury and Amelia Gocio Hardister in Reydell, Ark. A graduate of Vaughn High School, Irene married James Newberry Perkins on July 11, 1942. After World War II, the couple moved to Eureka Springs where they resided until 2001. Irene was a member of Eureka Springs First United Methodist Church for over sixty years where she held many church offices and taught Sunday School classes. A homemaker for many years, she was also a member of United Methodist Women and P.E.O. Later in life, she enjoyed working in gift shops in Eureka Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, James Edward Perkins; a brother, W.A. Hardister, Jr., and sisters, Thelma and Madeline Hardister. Survivors include her daughter, Jameslyn Bird of Conway; two granddaughters, Danielle Dale of Kenner, La., and Megan Dale of San Francisco, Calif.; four nephews, Eddie Hardister (Debbie) of Rogers; Lenox Perkins (Judy) of Cleveland, Ohio; John Perkins and Keith (Debbie) Perkins of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Conway with Dr. Michael Roberts, Rev. Lauren Delano and Rev. Blake Lasater officiating. Graveside service will be on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eureka Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs or Conway.
