Minola Caplena Kennedy

Mrs. Minola Ruth Caplena Kennedy of Wynne, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. Minola was born on Aug. 19, 1930, to Fred and Ruth James Caplena in Hillemann, Ark., Minola married Sidney Kennedy in June of 1952. She was a 1954 graduate of Memphis State University. She taught school in Memphis, Tenn., Clarendon, Moro, Blytheville, Wheatley, Grubbs and Wynne, Ark., retiring in 1992. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, retired teachers, UMW and was very involved with the Cross County Special Workshop. Minola was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wynne. Survivors are her brother Derin Caplena (Rhonda) of Bella Vista, Ark., sons Craig (Charlotte) of Cherry Valley, Ark., Eric (Sherrie) of Colt, Ark., Ben Nguyen of Fort Washakie, WY, and Bernard Chen (Chin-Lan) of Springfield, Va., daughters Marla M.Kennedy (Jonathan Newman) of Fredericksburg, Va., and Brigitte Bartels (Dr. Troy) of Jonesboro, Ark., 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 10-11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Hunter Cemetery in Hunter, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Wynne First United Methodist Church, Ark., or the Cross County Special Workshop of Wynne, Ark.
