Timothy Ray Van Berg

Timothy Ray Van Berg, 59, of Hesperia, Calif., passed away April 18, 2017. He was born Sept. 25, 1957 in Columbus, Neb., to Mary Jane (Sokol) and Jack Van Berg. Growing up in Columbus, Neb., Tim showed a love for cars early on and had a true gift for fixing any type of motor. After high school, Tim joined his dad in the horse racing business and proved that training ran deep in his blood. He spent time behind the wheel not only driving horse vans but found himself behind the wheel of many 18 wheelers crisscrossing the country. He settled out in Hesperia, Calif., where he remained. He continued to follow his first passion and set up shop working as a mechanic. Tim had a true heart of gold and befriended every person he met. His laugh and light will be missed by so many. Survivors include his parents; Jack Van Berg, Hot Springs Ark., Mary Jane (Sokol) Van Berg, Sun City, Ariz., wife; Sandy Harsh Van Berg, Mesa Ariz., son; TJ Van Berg, Medina, Ohio, stepson; Heath Dobbs, Mesa Ariz., siblings; Tami (Rick) Hoegerl, Denver, Colo., Tori Van Berg, Owensboro, Ky., Traci (Rich) Hoops, Boulder Colo., and Tom (Angi) Van Berg, Louisville, Ky., and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Tim's life will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Rich Heffington officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Cemetery.
