Jack E. Ott

JACK ERVIN OTT of Jacksonville, Ark., passed away at home Aug. 7 at age 78. Born in Brinkley, Ark., on May 7, 1939 to Zola Edna Kynion and Alva Jackson Ott, Jack was known for his ready smile, quick wit, and love of adventure. A lifelong mechanic, Jack was the inaugural president of the Quarter Miler's Hot Rod Club, and with his brother raced a dragster and his prized 1931 Chrysler Coupe all over Arkansas. Jack married his high school sweetheart Charlene Pearl Bergschneider in 1963 and provided for his family in heavy equipment sales for Clarklift and John Deere, taught auto shop at Jacksonville High School after his brother retired, and proudly served 20 years in the Arkansas Air National Guard. Jack will be remembered for spending many long hours hunting and fishing with family and friends, his love of travel, his unwavering devotion to his granddaughter, and his amazing ability to fix anything with baling wire, duct tape, or WD-40. His mother and father precede him in death. Jack is survived by two brothers Harold (Floy) Ott of Cabot and Fred (Linda) Ott of Shreveport, La.; wife Charlene, daughter Jerrie (James Fauver) Ott of Cabot, and granddaughter Julian Fauver. Visitation will be held at Rest Hills Funeral Home in Sherwood Tuesday, Aug. 15 beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. Military honors and interment will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15 at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
