Shelby Carol Rhodes

Shelby Carol Rhodes of Sheridan, Ark., was born March 20, 1996 in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Roy and Vickie Sanders Rhodes. She was an active member of Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Grapevine and was about to start her senior year at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where she was a biology major. She was also a CNA. Shelby had achieved numerous academic awards and among her campus activities, she was President of the Honors College Association. Shelby had a passion for traveling, having studied abroad in Costa Rica last year. She enjoyed volunteering, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. Shelby died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 as a result of an automobile accident at the age of 21. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hubert C. Rhodes, Georgia Rhodes and Carl Sanders. Survivors are her parents, Roy and Vickie Rhodes of Sheridan, her brother, Kramer and wife Rachel Rhodes of Sheridan; grandparents, Billy and Carolyn Sanders Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Mary and Bobby Bradshaw, William Sanders, Ronnie and Kathy Rhodes, Dennis and Janet Rhodes, Rita and Johnny Terry, Margaret Sanchez; cousins, Matt and Jessica Rhodes, Clint and Stacy Rhodes, Tracy and Jaret Rushing; and many extended family members and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m.. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Jon Cox and Bro. Ronald Young officiating. Burial will follow at Rhodes Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Pallbearers are William Guffy, Logan Riley, Jeremy Plummer, Clint Rhodes, Matt Rhodes, Bobby Terry, Ryan Gammel, Brian Davis and Bill Remow. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Tanner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 4475 Grant 19, Grapevine, Ark. 72057.
