Oleta Murriel Bryant Dixon, of Morrilton, born December 23, 1925 in Center Ridge Arkansas, passed from her earthly life on August 15, 2017. She was the daughter of Eli Harvey and Mary Jane Epperson Bryant. She was the widow of Lyman Dixon and a Christian. Murriel is survived by two daughters, Milna and Randy Hayes of Blackwell and Bethali Sommers of Morrilton and Robert Standridge of Dover; two granddaughters: Dr. Meghan Sommers and Emali Sommers, two step-granddaughters, Shawn and Bob Carter of Humnoke and LeAnn and Clay Brazeal of Carlisle, two step-great grandsons, two step-great granddaughters, one step-great-great-granddaughter, brother, Jimmy Bryant of Morrilton, sister, Nina Scroggins of Center Ridge, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She taught school 36 years with 26 years being at Morrilton. She influenced countless lives. She retired in 1986 and enjoyed five years of raising cattle with Lyman until his death. Meghan and Emali were the center of her world. Being "Mamaw" was her greatest achievement. Her heart over flowed with joy to have a doctor and a teacher. Mrs. Dixon was respected and feared by all. She remembered all of her students usually by name. She mentored many beginning teachers with her experience. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday, August 18, at Harris Chapel with Rev. Katie Pearce and Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at funeral home.
