Elbert (Sonny) M. Taylor Jr, of Jacksonville died on Monday, August 21, 2017. He was born on September 26, 1941, in Memphis, Tenn. the first of eight children born to the late Pearl and Monroe Taylor Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Joe and Raymond, and sisters Myrtle Catherine and Phyllis. Sonny was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many people. Sonny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Mosley Taylor; sons, Sean Taylor, Jason (Amy) Taylor, foster son, TJ Taylor, grandchildren, Brandon (Richelle), Brandy, Brendon, Courtney, and Gage Taylor, a week-old great-granddaughter, Geneva Taylor, and special grandchildren of his heart, Jeremy Allen and Kayla Walker, brother, Johnny Mack Taylor and sisters, Ruby St. John, and Betty Chrissonberry. He was a Baptist. Sonny was the owner of Sonny's Auto Salvage, Inc., from 1976-1998 and it was his life for a long time. He and Trish helped form the Arkansas Automotive Dismantlers and Recyclers Association, and he served as it's first president, and was an officer in the Auto Dismantlers and Recyclers of America. There are many special employees and industry friends from those years that he cherishes still. After "retirement", he built a couple of other businesses, A-Lotta Storage 1 and 2, and then submerged himself in his grandson Gage's baseball life. He was a proud supporter of the sport, the grandson, and the kids on the teams. He could be found sitting on his electric scooter at most games in and out of state. Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. Brother Scotty Taylor will officiate at the service. Burial will be at a later date at Mayflower Cemetery, Mayflower, Ark. In lieu of flowers it would honor Sonny to make a donation to the Sylvan Hillls High School baseball booster club.
