JoAnn Soderquist

JoAnn Soderquist, age 84, died on Dec. 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving children. JoAnn was born on Dec. 4, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., the middle daughter of Charles and Ruth (Humphrey) Pollard. She married Don Soderquist on June 11, 1955 after attending Wheaton College. JoAnn was an active member of Bethany Chapel in Wheaton, Ill., for many years. Upon moving to Arkansas in 1980 she dedicated her life to serving others and was a well-loved member of the NWA community. Over the years, she served on a number of boards of trustees including Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County, Loving Choices, and NWA Children's Shelter. Of all her volunteer efforts, her commitment to Lake Geneva Youth Camp and John Brown University were among the highlights. Greystone Estate in Rogers, Ark., was marked with her decorating skill and is home to the Jo Soderquist Learning Center. Her grandchildren were the recipients of her encouragement, humor, and love. She traveled extensively around the world and favored Lake Geneva, Wis., above all. JoAnn is survived by her brother, Bill (Judy) Pollard; her four children - Mark (Jennifer) Soderquist, Wendy (Kai) Togami, Sandie (Rollin) Ford and Jeff (Amy) Soderquist; her 11 grandchildren- Dane (Katie) Soderquist, Anders Soderquist, Zac (Anna) Koons, Christian (Anna) Koons, Kinsley Koons, Jessica (Brian) Salmon, Paige (Thomas) Brown, Audrey Ford, Kacey and Breck Soderquist; and four great-grandchildren - Riley, Eli, Leo, and Baby Koons. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec 6, 2017, in the BiLD Chapel at Fellowship Bible NWA, 1051 West Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, Ark. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the following organizations: Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County http://spsfbc.org, and Circle of Life Hospice http://nwacircleoflife.com.
