Robert Elwin Jackson age 84, of Bismarck, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home. He was born June 4, 1933 to Lawrence E. and Velma V. Knight Jackson. He retired from Reynolds Cable Plant Jones Mill Badge # 25 and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Robert was on the board of directors for the Kimzey Water Association. He was a perpetual member of Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge # 100, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He served as a justice of the peace for Hot Spring County for fourteen years and was a past red coat for the Arkansas Legislature General Assembly. Robert loved to sing and play music. He was an avid attendee at Saturday night Southern Gospel Singings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 56 years, Gennivee Shuffield Jackson and one great-grandson, Cameron Smith. Survivors are his wife, Barbara Sue Hodges Jackson; three sons, Robert L. (Bobby) Jackson of San Jose, California, David E. Jackson of Bismarck and Dale Wayne Jackson of Little Rock; five grandchildren, David L. Jackson, Johnathan Jackson, Matthew E. Jackson, Natasha E. Jackson and Francis V. Jackson and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 16th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Burial will be in Free Hill Cemetery near Point Cedar. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are David L., Matthew E. and Johnathan Jackson, John Hill, Kelly and Kenny Hodges. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Daniels, Gordon (Jimmy) Powell, Harold Dean Thornton, Leon Thornton, Dr. Bruce (Pistol) Meeks, Richard Knight, Capt. Mike Fletcher (ASP retired), Pete Wilson, co-workers at Reynolds Cable Plant Jones Mill and fellow red coats of the Arkansas General Assembly.
