LAVERNE YOUNG MAJOR MOSLEY, age 102, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Little Rock, to Wilbur and Ella Young. She married R.L. (Pete) Major Aug. 12, 1935, and had two children, Wayne Major and Dianne Burnett. She and Pete owned and operated Pete Major Photography and together they blessed many families with pictures of their weddings and children. After his death she continued to operate the studio until retirement. She married Alvin Mosley on Oct. 5, 1980, and increased her family with stepdaughter Susan Mitchell. She was a lifelong member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church, joining when she was 13 years old. She sang in the choir for many years. The family wishes to thank the nurses at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation for the kindness and loving care extended to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Noah Young. She is survived by her son Wayne Major (Kay); daughter Dianne Burnett (Butch); stepdaughter Susan Mitchell (Phil); granddaughters Laurel Lawrence, Stacy Burnett, Lee Major and Amanda Chaney; and great-grandchildren Ashleigh Mallett, Jacob Major and Mitchell Chaney. A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. officiated by Reverend Brock Patterson and Reverend Kim Johnson. Burial immediately following the service at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
