MARION SPENCER HINES, 96, passed away Dec. 13, 2017, with his family at his side. Born in Paducah, Ky., to Robert and Marie Faulkner Hines, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, assigned to the USS Simpson, performing convoy duty in the North Atlantic. He was a civil engineer with the U.S. Geological Survey. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hines; children, Marilyn Hines (Rodney Gascon) of Plaquemine, La., and Gail Hines (Martin Freeman) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandchildren, Spencer Egros (Jenifer), Edward Egros, Anne-Marie Frischhertz (Paul), Asher Freeman and Katie Freeman; step-children, Danette Post (Keith), Jeff Hyde (Mary), Janna Crandall and Sharon Pflieger (Kevin); step-grandchildren, Keri Post, Kathryn Sue Post, Ann-Marie Post, Clay Crandall, Chad Crandall, Whit Hyde, Mary Kathryn Hyde, Owen Pflieger and Kate Pflieger, Kelli Lambert (Chuck) and Brandi Gascon (Tim Soileau); and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Leone Starks Hines, and brothers, Robert Hines Jr., and Eugene Hines. Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, officiated by Rev. Danny Schieffler. A reception will follow. Burial will be private.
