Dorothy Lee Gartman

Dorothy Lee Gartman, age 90, of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Friday, December 15, 2017 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born October 17, 1927 in Yolanda, Ala. to the late Roy H. Nelson and Kate Lee Otts Nelson. She moved to Sheridan, AR in 1940. She was the widow of James C. Gartman, retired from the business office at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Monticello and Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge with the ladies and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loving and gracious lady, always wanting everyone around her to be happy. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Dan Nelson; and one sister, Virginia Harrington. Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Leon) Hardy of Tierra Verde, Fla., Debbie Scrivner of Hot Springs and Nancy (John) Funderburg of Monticello; one brother, James Nelson of Houston, Texas; one sister, Carolyn Henson of Sheridan; grandchildren, Gina Reginelli, Angie Herman, Jake Funderburg, Jill Funderburg and one great-grandson, Gino. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
