Dorothy M. Kilpatrick

Dorothy M. Kilpatrick (Dot), née Miller, age 74, of Camden, Ark. passed away at her home on December 25th, 2017. She was born February 7, 1943 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Inez Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband Blackie (Havis Hawley) Kilpatrick, her brothers Thomas Miller, and Bruce Miller. She is survived by her sister Bessie Miller DeLoach and her brother Jay Dee Miller, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Blackie and Dot had one child, Jeff Kilpatrick, born January 2, 1967, who is married to Julie F. Gilmour of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dot loved her like a daughter. Her life was also blessed with her "chosen children," the children of her close friends Dotti (Dorothy) and David G. Johnston of Hamburg. Dot and Dotti were born on the exact same day in 1943 and became fast friends when they met at Southern State in Magnolia. Our families have been intertwined ever since. Dotti and David had four children, Carl Johnston (partner Robyn Fields), Becki Brown, Tommy Johnston, and David E. Johnston (wife Lyndie). Jeff was born an only child, but he does not live his life that way. She loved the Johnston and Adams babies like her own grandchildren: Robert Adams and his wife Lauren Adams, and their baby Harvey; Will Adams and his fiancée Katie; John Adams; Alex Brown; Christian Johnston; Drew Johnston; David T. Johnston; Dailyn Johnston; and Josh Johnston. Lisa, the mother of Christian and Drew, remains a beloved family member. They all loved their Mamaw Dot to her death and members of the Johnston family were with Dot and Jeff till the very end as it should be and was always going to be. Also with her to the end was her faithful helper and companion Becky Mosley. A memorial service will be held at Proctor Funeral Home, Camden, Ark. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 3 p.m. Visitation will be Friday from 1-3 p.m. before the service.
