ANITA MARIE GORGAS, 83, of North Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017. She was born in Louisville, Ky., May 20, 1934 to James Lawrence Horrell and Mary Alvice Klueh Horrell Allen. She is survived by two sons William D. (Dan) Gorgas and his wife Lisa of Decatur, Miss., Paul A. Gorgas and wife Sharon of North Little Rock, one daughter Vicki Lynn Matherne and husband Paul of Biloxi, Miss.; brother Ronald Horrell and wife Paralee of Louisville, Ky.; sister-in-law Marcia Hausman and her husband Frank of Louisville; sister-in-law Sharon Gorgas of North Port, Fla.; seven grandchildren Brian Matherne and wife Amanda of Baton Rouge, La.; Michael Matherne of Pasadena, Calif.; Steven and Elaine Gorgas of North Little Rock; Reagan, Reed, and Ryann Gorgas of Decatur, Miss.; great-grandchildren Jack and Lily Matherne of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse William S. Gorgas, her brother Lawrence Horrell and brother-in-law Philip Gorgas. Anita attended Presentation Academy High School in Louisville, Ky., and obtained her x-ray technician degree from Nazareth College in Louisville. Anita was an x-ray technician, and worked for more than twenty years at Sears. She worked for over thirty years for H&R Block and was a branch manager. Anita was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Through the Knights of Columbus her family received the honor of Family of The Year. As a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Anita belonged to the Altar Society, the Arts and Crafts Guild, the Golden Falcons and the Catholic Daughters. Other organizations Anita was a member included; Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary, AARP, Sears Retirees, Beta Sigma Phi and the Red Hatters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Visitation will be from at 8:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main (501) 758-1170. Rosary will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at the Church.
