YUN SUN "JOY" HECKMAN, age 74, of Jacksonville went to be with her Lord on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, doing her favorite thing--working in her garden. She was born Aug. 15, 1942 in South Korea to Chon Cha Nam and Pak Chun Nang. Joy credited Jesus for pulling her through the toughest times. She lived daily by the Word of God, her devout Bible readings, and constant prayers. She was passionately active in two church families: LRAFB Chapel and Hope Korean UMC where she enjoyed teaching young children about the love of Jesus. Her smile and positive spirit were infectious and she brought joy to everyone who knew her. The legacy Joy left behind may be expressed by how she lived her life: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Phil. 1:21). She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John Paul Heckman, her children, Barbara Knitter (Brian), John N. Heckman (Tonia), Aaron Heckman, Adela Waller (Jimmy), 10 grandchildren, and her brother, Johnny Chung Kim (Sun Young). Joy will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Yuni Kim. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Graveside services will be Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark. Memorials may be made to Hope Korean UMC, 915 North Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72201. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
