Grace Cole

Grace Cole, 90, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away February 6, 2107. She was born September 22, 1926 in Santa Barbara, California. Grace Cole attended and graduated from the Vaughn School in Vaughn, Ark. She worked with her mother and step father in bakeries in Bentonville and Siloam Springs, Ark. She put herself thru Beauty School and eventually owned and operated three Beauty Salons in Bentonville. Grace was able to enjoy a large family as her mother was one of nine children. The Williams side of the family resides mostly in Ojai, Calif. Two of the sisters and a good part of their families live in the Baton Rouge area. The Bentonville area was resident to three of the sisters and their families. Grace was able to continue the family tradition of making arts and crafts items and beautiful afghans and quilts. Due to physical limitations, Grace moved to Bossier City to enjoy retirement and be by her second son James. She eventually sold her home and moved to an assisted living facility in Shreveport. She eventually went to the Guest House Nursing Home in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma Williams and Virgil J. Hedrick; step-father, Carl Williams; step-sister Bays Mildred Womack. She is survived by two sons, Carl Gabbard and wife Joy, and James J. Cole; three grandchildren, Ashley and Nick Cole and Jason Gabbard; great-granddaughter, Kylee Cole; and special first cousin, James E. Webb. Visitation 11 to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Graveside services 1 p.m. Thursday in the Barron Cemetery, Vaughn, Arkansas.
