Wayne Lester Stevenson, 77, of Guy, Ark., went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on February 6, 2017. Wayne was born on September 30, 1939, to the late Harvey and Bronnie Stevenson in Damascus, Ark. He attended Guy Perkins High School where he graduated in 1957. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army and served from 1958-1962. On July 20, 1962 Wayne was married to Dorothy Louise (Little) Stevenson at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy, and together they lived in North Little Rock where he worked at Wetzler's Sheet Metal. In May of 1969, they moved with their two children to Guy where Wayne would lead and participate in the community while serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and music leader at his home church of Mt. Olive for many years. In 1971, Wayne began a HVAC company with close friend Fred Glover. This venture would lead him to take a leap of faith five years later to start his own company, Stevenson Heating and Air. His love of serving others was evident by the way he ran his business. Wayne's legacy continues today through his son, Todd, who runs the business with his family. Wayne went into retirement in 2002, but that did not stop him from enjoying the things he loved most like sports, singing, racing and raising horses, and anything his grandchildren were involved in. Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, one daughter Tammy (Greg) Long of Greenbrier, one son, Todd (Libby) Stevenson of Bee Branch, three brothers, Clark (Linda), David (Lisa), Tommy, and brother-in-law Marvin Lee. He had four grandchildren: Tanner (Sarah) Stevenson, Beau Stevenson, Peyton Long, and Mary Faith Stevenson and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mardula Lee, of Guy, Ark. Wayne had a love and passion for children. He loved to see them excel in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Soaring Wings Christian Home and Ranch, P.O. Box 1670, Conway, Ark. 72033. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the church with Brother Ed Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Greenbrier. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/greenbrier.
