Mr.Carter James Carl Bell Jr., 83, died February 3, at his home. He was born July 31,1933 in Villa Ridge, Illinois to the late Mr. and Mrs. Carter James Carl Bell Sr. He attended Gilman High School. He graduated from Philander Smith College in 1968. He played basketball in high school and college. He was a Korean War Veteran. Mr. Bell was a past employee of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He worked and retired from UALR after many years of service. He was a member of St. Peter's Rock Baptist Church, 22nd and Brown St. where he was an active member. He served as Men's Sunday School teacher for several years until his health failed him. He was an avid fisherman. Carter met and married Doris Jean Taylor on June 20, 1958 at Arch Street Baptist Church (now Greater Archview Baptist Church). He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Doris Bell, of Little Rock, Ark.; two sons, James C. Bell, and Kenny W. Bell both of Little Rock, Ark.; brothers, Fred and Ronnie (Sylvia) Bell; sisters, Charlotte Winfield, Sandra (Robert) Sowell; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services are today, 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Rock Baptist Church 22nd and Brown St. Services entrusted to Premier Funeral Home, 1518 S. Battery St. Little Rock, Ark. 72202.
