Jacquelyn Corrigan Dugan

Jacquelyn (Jacke) Dugan, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. Jacke was born on March 25, 1928, in Henryetta, Okla., to John and Bertha Ann Corrigan. The family moved to Harrison, Ark., where she attended local schools, graduating from Harrison High School in 1946. Jacke attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo., and graduated from Henderson State University with a B.S.E. She began her teaching career at Greenwood Elementary School and taught many years at Jones Elementary School where she retired after 35 years of teaching and touching the lives of hundreds of students. She was a member of the Garland and Boone County Historical Societies, the John Perciful Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Garland County Retired Teachers Association. Jacke was a lifelong Methodist, attending Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Joe Dugan, to whom she was married 59 years, their daughter Dayna and son-in-law, Stuart Jones. Survivors include her treasured daughter, DiAnn Jones (Hot Springs) and the pride of both Jacke and Joe, their grandson, Stuart Jones, Jr. (Cambridge, Mass). Cousins; John Carlton (Harrison), Patricia Word (Albuquerque, N.M.), Joan Caulson (South Yorkshire, England) and John Wilcox (Lincolnshire, England). Sister-in-law; Clara Howard (Hot Springs). Nephews and nieces; Mike Dugan, Jimmy Young, Dinah Marrell, Elizabeth Eckels, Jorya Young, all of Hot Springs and Melissa Knocke (Blacksburg, Va.). Jacke was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was never too busy to take time for loved ones and friends and share in their lives. Jacke enjoyed a special relationship with her students, receiving cards, phone calls and visits throughout her life. One of her greatest loves was books, and she always had several by her side. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Trinity Village in Pine Bluff and her companion, Judy Mondragon. Loving care was provided in Hot Springs by Hopes Mission and Arkansas Hospice, her dedicated caregivers were Lekesha and Michelle Canada and Cindy Large. Memorials are requested to be made to the Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave., Hot Springs, Ark. 71901. Visitation will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Gross Funeral.
