Tommie Moseley Hyder, age 89, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Russellville, passed away on February 8, 2017. She was born May 9, 1927 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Thomas and Annice Shoptaw Moseley. She married her high school sweetheart after they finished college. Tommie worked at a bank, telephone company, a national insurance company and a doctor's office while helping to put her husband through medical school and internship. In Dr. Hyder's career they moved to six states and lived in Abqaiq and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia seven years. They reared three daughters. Tommie became a stay at home mom but volunteered in various places, including Memorial Drive Christian Church, Houston Area Girl Scouts, and Ben Taub Hospital, and belonged to the Federated Womens Club. The family got to travel to many countries, went around the world and all over the Middle East. The highlight of travel was seeing the Holy Land. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Hyder, M.D.; her precious granddaughter, Rachel Marie Braddy; and three siblings, Louise Tull, Kathleen Grant and Bedford Moseley. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Mary Latiolais and Jim, Kathy Quick and George, Susan Braddy and Jay; three grandchildren, Kara Latiolais, Nicholas Latiolais and Shaun Braddy; and multiple nieces and nephews. She lived in Houston, Texas most of her life but still claimed the Arkansas Razorbacks. Visitation will be 9-9:45 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the funeral home. The graveside service will follow the visitation at 10 a.m., Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
