Charles Ray "C.R." Smith II, 59, of Little Rock passed from this life on Friday, February 17th, 2017. He was born May 11th, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama to Carole Joan Shelton Smith and the late Charles Ray Smit. C.R. is a US Navy Veteran, retired ETC(SS), Chief Petty Officer, after 22 years in Submarine Service as Submarine Nuclear Propulsion Plant Supervisor-Reactor Control and Electronics. Civilian employment took him to the Pine Bluff Arsenal (URS) where he participated in demilitarization and incineration of weapon stockpiles. C.R. was a Life Member of the NRA and a lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Evelyn Lambert Smith, his mother Carole Joan Earnest of Fayette, Ala., his son, Ian Smith of Concord, Calif. and niece Kristin Lambert of Denver, Colo., as well as his father-in-law, Bob Lambert, two brothers-in-law and their families. C.R. prided himself on being a "simple man", but he had a profound influence on everyone he met. He travelled the world, but he was happy anywhere he could spend time with his family and friends, especially being able to wet a hook in the water or sit on his back porch exchanging stories.
