James Russell Dunn, 86, of Cabot, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born April 20, 1930 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late John W. and Mary Merchant Dunn. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and served as a church trustee and song leader. Mr. Dunn served over 21 years in the United States Army and had two tours in Vietnam. He was also stationed in Japan, Iran and Germany and retired as a Sergeant First Class. Mr. Dunn was a member of the American Legion. After his military career, he worked for and retired from the postal service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his siblings, Lyn Dunn, Osceola Clark, Mary Scruggs and J.T. Dunn. Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife of 62 years, VeLoyce Dorene Wells Dunn; his children, Frederick A. Vogel (Mary) of Galena, Kansas, Nina Trent (Frank) of Cabot and Mary Lynn Brown (Donald) of Lucedale, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Charity Baptist Church in Ward. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mt.
