Estelle Ruffin Vaughn

Estelle Leona Ruffin Vaughn, age 92 of DeWitt, Arkansas, went to her heavenly home Monday, January 9, 2017. She was born June 18, 1924, in the "Little Cuba" community, a daughter of the late Robert Guy and Hettie Alice Adams Ruffin. She graduated from DeWitt High School and worked at various businesses in DeWitt, most notably at the Southern Store on the Square in DeWitt, where she was known as "Miss Estelle". She was married to Clyde Vaughn in 1944 and to this marriage was born two daughters Patricia (Pat) and Jenny. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, tending her flowers, checking on her family, and was a caregiver to her parents in their declining years. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Hester Cordell, and brothers, Robert Verne Ruffin and Ralph Ruffin. She is survived by her daughters Patricia (Doug) Eggburn, Jenny (Deane) Robinson; grandchildren Mitch (Marsha) Eggburn, Brent (Christy) Eggburn of Sheridan, Arkansas, Christi (Cary) Gray of Centerton, Arkansas, Amy (Heath) Holbert of DeWitt, and Jennifer (Michael) Allen of Alexandria, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sisters Lorraine Eason and Margie Hackney, and sister-in-law Hazel Ruffin, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Essex Funeral Home in DeWitt, Arkansas, and burial will be at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.
