John Ballenger Sr.

John D. Ballenger Sr., 91, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, January 8, 2017. He was born August 25, 1925 in Neshoba County, Mississippi, son of Claud and Manila Church Ballenger. He served in the United States Marine Corps 4th Division during World War II. Mr. Ballenger owned and operated Ballenger Enterprises. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnita Vowell Ballenger, his parents; daughter, Ann Maurras; seven sisters; five brothers. Survivors include a son John Ballenger Jr., three daughters, Jane Tanner of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Linda Schumacher of Little Rock and Melanie Ruhl of White Hall; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Morey officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery with military honors.
