Ernest E. Wicker

Ernest E. Wicker, of North Little Rock, was born November 1, 1920, in Adamsville, Tenn., and passed away on January 9, 2017. He was one of 14 children born to James Henry and Nola McDaniel Wicker. He was married to the love of his life, Margaret Ann Bridgforth Wicker, for 62 years until her passing in 2003. Ernest served in the US Navy from 1940 through 1946. As a crew member aboard an armed PBY during WWII he flew anti-submarine missions in the Pacific arena. He had a passion for airplanes, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. After retirement from US Air Force civil service and the Air Force Reserve where he worked in aircraft maintenance, he served for many years as an ordained Lay Pastor and teacher. In his later years he was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church. Ernest was predeceased by his son, Dennis M. Wicker. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Wicker Wilkinson and husband, Pat of North Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Carole Remaklus Wicker of Sherwood; six grandchildren, Brad Wilkinson of Maumelle, David Wilkinson of Little Rock, Rebecca Ann Wicker of Columbia, Trnn., Derek Wicker (Angela) of Atlanta, Ga., Olivia Wicker Wilkerson of Sherwood, and Abby Wicker Berry (Lance) of Maumelle; three great-grandchildren, Avery and Samantha Wicker, and Landon Wilkerson; two brothers, Herschel Wicker of Denton, Texas, and Vernon Wicker of St. Louis, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Rest Hills Funeral Home from 1-2 pm. Followed by graveside services at 2 p.m.
