GERALDINE "GERRY" EDNA LESLIE died Jan. 12, 2017 in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James "Jim" Waller Leslie Sr. She was born in Springwater, N.Y., on July 7, 1921 to Charles Lewis Snyder and Dasie Pearl Glover. In 1925 the family moved South to Florida near the town of Palaka and later to Ocala where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1939. She worked for the government in Miami during World War II. In Miami, she also met and married her husband, Jim on Jan. 6, 1946. From 1946 to 1999 Jim and Gerry lived in Pine Bluff. Most of Gerry's married life was spent as a home maker, raising two boys in Pine Bluff. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church singing in the choir for most of the time she was a member of that Church. She also served as a deacon. After moving to Little Rock in 1998, she and Jim joined Grace Presbyterian Church. While in Pine Bluff, Gerry was active in the League of Women Voters. She loved to play bridge. She was a member of up to three bridge clubs at one time. She also loved to work in the family garden, listen to music and go to Razorback football games in the fall. In her later life at Presbyterian Village, she read, did word search puzzle books and watched TV. Gerry was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her sister, Dolene Faucett; her brother, Alton Dayton Snyder and many of her friends. Gerry is survived by her sons James Waller Leslie Jr. and his wife, Leslye of Olathe, Kan., and Charles Lewis Leslie and his wife, Susan of Little Rock. The family thanks the staff of Presbyterian Village for the loving care that Gerry received over the past 17 years and Arkansas Hospice, who cared for her in her last few months. A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18. A reception will be held at the church after the service.
